About Melanie

Melanie’s passion through her life has been, and continues to be, to make a positive difference for those with whom she works. Her Professional Supervision qualification from NMIT empowers her to bring this passion directly into her professional life.

Melanie has over thirty years of experience in the education sector, employed for the last fifteen years in NZ. She has taught adults in the private sector and worked in Nelson/Tasman as a teacher of special educational needs students and primary school children. For the past seven years she has worked as a Resource Teacher of Learning and Behaviour, supporting teachers, parents and students and is an accredited group leader of IYT (Incredible Years for Teachers). Prior to working in education, Melanie was employed as Head of Birds at the Welsh Mountain Zoo, North Wales, as curator at the ICBP (International Centre for Birds of Prey, UK) worked as a field assistant at the BBC wildlife unit (Lifesense documentary series) and has additional experience in sales and marketing.

Melanie lives in Nelson with her husband of over 30 years, they immigrated to NZ in 2008 and have two adult children. She is also a grandparent.
